Dear Chapter 32 IRWA Members,
As we approach the end of the year and the Christmas holiday, I want to take a moment to connect with our
members and bring everyone up to date. On November 17th an Executive Board Meeting was held to determine
interest in a Christmas/4th Quarter Meeting that is in-person. I and the board concluded that an in-person meeting
could be safely held given the steady decline of Covid-19 to include the Delta variant. As of December 6th, the
average decline for the 4 county areas of Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, and Nashville is -77.7% from the highs
of September 2021. Unfortunately, the meeting venues favored by our chapter are booked and I respectfully decline
to hold another Zoom Chapter Meeting when so much more is accomplished at in-person meetings. Whether
catching up with colleagues or updates from chapter chairs, the in-person meeting benefits us the most. So, to set the
tone for 2022, our next meeting will be on January 13th at 6:30 PM. The venue is The Loveless Café and is a
member’s only event, though you may bring guests by direct invitation.
I will not be lengthy with chapter updates as the chapter newsletter will contain more in-depth information and will
be distributed before year’s end. But I and some of the chapter chairs continue to attend Zoom meetings with
national committees to bring information to the local level. These meetings include IVC, IPAC, and ITC and reports
will be delivered on January 13th.
Educationally, we are in good hands with Angel Bailey, RWP and Melinda Upchurch as they are working on the 3-
year education plan and continue selecting courses for our members based on feedback. I am impressed by their
knowledge and hard work. As Angel and Melinda develop the curriculum, be on the lookout for the IRWA Chapter
32 Course Survey for 2022. The survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete, and I encourage all members to
participate since the responses serve as the educational guide for the year.
Finally, allow me to wish all our members a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. We have much to be thankful
for and to look forward to in 2022!
